The Woman Behind Studio Alyse
Hi, I’d like to introduce myself. My name’s Alyse Eisenberg, founding principal at Studio Alyse.
I’ve loved design since I was a little girl. I remember my nana sitting on the floor with me crafting barbie furniture out of old blazer shoulder pads and tissue boxes. We created quite the community filled with found objects carefully made from love. Since those Barbie days, I’ve always found myself drawn to interiors and how they made me feel. Growing up in the South, the concept of hospitality played such a large role in how we lived our lives. The idea of “make yourself at home” was an integral part of my childhood. I knew I wanted a career in an industry that played a role in my life for many years. I wanted to make my clients feel at home.
A year ago Studio Alyse was established. Yes, we have made it to our first anniversary (yay)! And while this is a huge accomplishment, we are all now faced with the uncertainties tomorrow will bring. As a result of staying inside most of the day, I’ve had time to reflect on this last year in business. I’ve had time to reconnect with the reason I started this Interior Design Studio; for my clients. I believe designers are the catalysts to making a space feel like a home and a refuge from these uncertainties. I was reminded of the roots Studio Alyse stands grounded in at all times. Our core principles: Creativity, Sustainability, Wellness, Balance & Quality. These five principles mold every decision I make as an entrepreneur, and every decision we make as a design studio.
C R E A T I V I T Y | Every project we take on sparks a creative flame. We hope clients come to us with a willingness for change and open minds
S U S T A I N A B I L I T Y | Our world is changing daily and we believe working with local craftsmen and makers will help change it for the better
W E L L N E S S | Working with materials that are non-harmful and enhance the wellbeing of our clients
B A L A N C E | Balance is not only an important design principle, but it’s something we live by in order to better serve our clients
Q U A L I T Y | We work with quality materials, makers, craftsmen, and contractors in order to create projects we can stand behind
As an interior design studio, our goal is to enhance the day-to-day environment of our clients whether this be in their home or work place. As a licenced interior designer, I’m able to work closely with architects and contractors to provide a more seamless project experience. You may be asking, “What is a licenced Interior Designer, I’ve never heard of this before?” We’ll it’s simple: Architects go to school to study Architecture. After they graduate, they go through a process of rigorous exams in conjunction with essential work experience and mentorship in order to become a practicing and Licensed Architect. Interior Designers have the opportunity to become licensed as well. In a similar manner, I graduated college with a degree in interior design and worked over two years at an award-winning design firm in order to become eligible for the exam called the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). After passing the exam I was eligible to become a Certified Interior Designer in the State of New York. I am passionate about interior design, and I believe this certification allows me to further my education and ability to better serve my clients.
As we begin this blogging process, our wish as a studio is that you will feel more connected to our work. Whether you’re a future client, current client, collaborator, fellow designer, or just interested in interior design, our goal is to share our design process and personality more openly! We’ll show you how we utilize the design process to create cohesive and well-thought-out interiors.
So, welcome to the first blog post! If you’d like to learn more about us or you have a design project you’d like to discuss, please reach out.
Happy Friday! Stay safe and healthy out there!
